The GL is basically a long-wheelbase version of the venerable ML, so it has room for seven passengers. There are four models available for 2016: the entry-level diesel-powered GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC, GL 450, GL 550 4MATIC and the top-of-the-line GL 63 AMG, an SUV that delivers track-worthy performance.
The GL 450 4MATIC has a bi-turbo V6 engine under its hood, and both the GL 450 4MATIC and GL 550 4MATIC feature a start/stop function as standard equipment. The list of standard features for all GL models also includes blind spot assist and a sophisticated online navigation system. The interior is enhanced with leather detailing, a sliding glass sunroof, power-folding third-row seats and many other conveniences. An Enhanced Towing Package is optional for the GL 550 4MATIC.
